Application
Used:
- in dye production such as Eosine, Uranine A;
- as a tinting agent in household chemicals;
- for water leak detection in heating systems;
- as an indicator in oil-fileld industry for tracing underground water direction.
Appearance, properties
Red-brown paste, combustible upon drying. Autoignition temperature: àerogel - 473°Ñ, aerosol - 503°C. Fluorescein belongs to xanthene dyes by chemical structure and to acid dyes by technical properties. Insoluble in benzene, chloroform. Poorly soluble in cold water, spirit, acetic acid. Soluble in caustic alkalis with fluorescence and formation of the corresponding salts.
